The holiday season is my favorite time of the year. I absolutely love it. Some of the best things about the holiday season are the Christmas traditions that come along with it. We bake cookies, sing carols, wrap presents, decorate trees and houses, and watch our favorite Christmas movies together as a family. In my family, we have traditions that go back as long as I’ve been alive. We always get a live Christmas tree. We always go visit the big Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center in New York City, and we always go to see the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. It never gets old.
Christmas is also a time to give–even to complete strangers. Every year, my son’s school sets up a giving tree program. The giving tree program helps families who need some assistance at Christmas. My son usually pulls a few ornaments from the tree and we buy gifts based on the suggestions provided. Giving to others in need is important to our family.
This is why I really enjoyed hearing the story about Berth Nunn. To celebrate the season of giving, Crest granted a wish of a lifetime, casting mother and grandmother Bertha Nunn in its latest TV commercial which shows her enjoying cookies with Santa on the night before Christmas. Since she was young, Bertha Nunn wanted to be an actress on the small screen. But like many moms, she put her own dreams aside to raise her family. I love everything about this commercial. It put a smile on my face and made me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Bertha is living proof that it’s never too late to accomplish your goals.
